Suzanne Mackay

Suzanne graduated from Cumberland College of Health Sciences (University of Sydney) in 1989 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy with Distinction. She was also awarded the NSW Association of Occupational Therapists prize for that year.

After graduation, Suzanne specialised in the area of paediatrics at both Westmead Hospital and then at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Suzanne then took a break from full time clinical work to raise her own three children, whilst continuing to work part time for the Children’s Hospital, and as a research assistant.

Suzanne was then employed as the Preschool Services Manager at Building Blocks Occupational Therapy in Hornsby for 10 years, before making the decision in 2016 to work on her own. During this time, Suzanne has established many long term relationships with local schools, preschools and early education centres and is a respected colleague amongst other allied health professionals and paediatricians in the community.

Suzanne is committed to continually updating and acquiring new skills and has attended many educational courses over the last 30 years as well as presenting a number of professional papers. In recent years, Suzanne has focused on attending courses particularly on intervention strategies for children with autism and sensory processing disorder, anxiety and emotional regulation.

Suzanne is passionate about being able to provide the best possible care for her clients and their families. She has worked with children from all ages and a wide range of difficulties but chooses to limit herself to those challenging and adorable children of preschool age. She claims this is what keeps her young at heart!

Outside of work, Suzanne loves to spend time with her husband and 3 children (now all grown up), extended family and long term friends. She loves the outdoors and gets dragged on numerous adventurous exploits with her family (although she only agrees to participate in these if there is the promise of a wonderful meal and a drink with bubbles at the end!). As a parent, Suzanne is able to relate to many of the experiences that families face on an everyday basis.
